Tuck made a beautiful Wicker Man sun for May Day.
As earlier posts over the last couple years have suggested, we are pulling back from volunteering for or initiating any community projects (although if you feel you could use our special sauce, ask.)
We are very focused on Tucker’s PhD, and getting the kids up and running with diplomas.
I have a list of processional/costume/puppet projects I’m working on and will be working on slowly and thoughtfully during this time. I will be documenting everything, but will also look forward to posting works in progress here.
I texted with Zach this week and we miss him still. I also made a brilliant friend who is, so far, the ONLY other person I would consider bringing into the Folkfuturism Collective.
I’m thinking of the next three years as a gestational period, a ripening. We are continuing to fulfill our mission even as it evolves.
Tucker’s Big Sun was begun as a costume/prop for my Hedge Morris debut of dancing up the sun for May Day, but on that particular dawn I was in a serious flare-up. So no dancing, but instead photos of me naked and tangled in a bed of mylar ribbons, the sun crushing me. And, Tuck’s beautiful video (which to me has a soundtrack of Paul Weller’s “Rise Up Singing”).
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to this blog, (which, again, will be augmented with audio content, and possibly backer-only Substack essays, articles and tutorials…. And/Or may become a YouTube channel). I think our work here needs more open space than any social media platform provides. If you only count on Instagram and Facebook to know what we are doing next, you won’t necessarily know.
